Now into our third week of the New Year, it’s a new start with a renewed sense of purpose.
With each new year, there is always the promise of hope, opportunities and new beginnings.
A time to forget the old and start anew.
New beginnings, a fresh start, resolutions, better habits, things to try, fears to conquer?
Notice the adverts across social media, television straight after Boxing Day there are promotions about the new you?
Lose weight, exercise more, do more.
There are productivity diaries, journals, habit trackers all designed to help us get into good habits.
But do they guarantee happiness and make your life better?
Only thing is they rarely succeed.
All they end up by doing is making us feel more like failures and that we should be doing something better.
PLEASE…
We know what we need to but there isn’t time to do it, is there?
I never set any resolutions because they are a waste of time.
I try to reinforce my current habits and develop new ones.
But only if I think they can help me be more productive in life and work.
A new year also means change.
Every new year, I find myself hoping that I don’t end up with another year like the one before.
That’s the natural pessimist in me.
No matter how hard I try to focus and be positive some b*****d ruins it for me.
How can I change for the better when I don’t have time to have an orgasm let alone the time to “improve myself.”
I spend most of life fitting in stuff on the go.
When the eldest went off to University and my youngest studying for GCSEs and independent save for driving, I thought I would have loads more time.
Er news just in I am busier chasing my own backside with emails which are largely crap that takes up most of my life.
Who has the time to do any of this new stuff?
Social media is full of people apparently having a better life than me what do they do all day, that’s what I want to know?
Does anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?
Most of us start the new year with good intentions but they fall by the wayside because life gets in the way.
We can evolve if we forget our past mistakes and change our mindset from negative to positive.
We can make change happen by changing one thing.
Do we ever change from who we really are?
The new year is a chance to let go of the past and from what has been holding us back.
To find our purpose in life.
Whatever our reality and our chosen path are, we can make changes to have a better year.
Starting with a clean slate, focussing on what we want to accomplish in the next few weeks and coming months we can achieve greater things.
This quote strikes a chord with me:
“Do not start 2020 with 2019 problems.”
One of the biggest personal challenges is what my purpose in life should be.
When we have defined our purpose in life, it gives it more meaning.
We live with intention when we have a purpose this means choices we make are more deliberate and intentional.
I’m thinking that maybe I should go off on a Buddhist or yoga retreat to find myself?
Because unless you know who you are how can you know what you want?
Apparently, when I know my purpose I can be more objective about the opportunities that are presented to me and can look for them when I know my true purpose.
What a load of crap seriously some people just know their true calling others go through life happy as larry never really giving a flyin’ f**k.
If you are like me and find it difficult to work out what your purpose is then you’re not alone.
At the start of a year new year I question what I want to do differently, why am I here?
I am still scratching my head trying to figure it all out.
I can make a list of all the stuff I want to have a go at.
Bungee jumping or throw myself out of a plane even though I’m s**t scared of heights (never use to be, I think it’s an age thing)
But none of the above will find my purpose.
According to the latest load of BS I am reading I need to banish all negative thoughts and allow myself a few minutes daily to reflect?
On what my bikini line that needs waxing?
In order to make changes, I have to make it happen.
I think this quote amplifies my thoughts entirely:
“Just let go. Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is trying to work its way into your consciousness”. Caroline Myss
Wishing you all a very happy *** Year (I missed out the “new” because it’s past its sell-by date)
May your hopes and dreams come true or not as the case may be.
Seriously, who gives a s**t anyway just live your life as you want and enjoy it.
